ChatterJoy

Terms of Use

The basics of using ChatterJoy together.

Last updated: September 2026

These terms

These Terms of Use form the agreement between you and ChatterJoy when you use the app or website. By creating an account you accept them. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

Who may use ChatterJoy

ChatterJoy accounts are created and managed by adults — parents or carers — who are responsible for the child profiles and content in their account.

Not a medical service

ChatterJoy is a general parenting and vocabulary activity app. It does not assess, diagnose or treat any condition and does not replace advice from a qualified professional.

Your content

You keep ownership of the words, journal entries and recordings you create. Please only upload content you have the right to share, and avoid sensitive personal information.

Acceptable use

Use ChatterJoy lawfully and respectfully. Do not attempt to access other families’ accounts or disrupt the service.

Subscription Terms

Joy Plus costs £4.99 per month. Eligible new customers may start one 7-day free trial per account. The trial is offered once only — creating another child profile, reinstalling ChatterJoy or using a different device does not give a second trial.

If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your first payment of £4.99 is taken on the date shown before you start, and your subscription then renews automatically every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Parent Corner; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and cancelling during the trial means you are not charged.

Payments are taken securely by Stripe. ChatterJoy does not store your card details. Prices include any applicable tax and may change with notice before your next renewal.

If you subscribe through the Apple App Store or Google Play instead, the purchase is made with that store, billing and cancellation are managed in your store account settings, and that store’s own terms and refund rules apply.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel at any time in Parent Corner (or in your store account if you subscribed through a store). Because Joy Plus is digital content you can use straight away, the statutory 14-day cancellation right ends once access begins — which is why we offer the free trial first. If something goes wrong or you are charged in error, contact us and we will put it right.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details private and let us know if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity in your account, including purchases made on your device, so please keep payment confirmation steps away from children.

Availability and changes to the app

We aim to keep ChatterJoy available at all times, but the service may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. Stories, games and activities are added and improved over time, so the exact content may change.

Our responsibility to you

We provide ChatterJoy with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Nothing here affects your statutory consumer rights.

Ending this agreement

You can close your account at any time in Parent Corner. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other families or the service at risk, and we will tell you why unless we are prevented from doing so.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as ChatterJoy develops and will explain meaningful changes in the app. Questions? Use the Contact us form.
